New Guinea 1937 long air cover (reg'd) to Australia, franked 1931 GVI Coronation set of 4 & Bird of Paradise ½d SG 190, 1d SG 206, FU, canc 6 strikes of "Post Office / Salamaua" cds 28 JL 37. Still with original contents (long typed letter from Aust official H.L Dowling, referring to recent volcanic eruptions near Rabaul). Good cond.

New Guinea 1941 WWII cover ex Melbourne (posted 24 Dec) to Wau, New Guinea. M/s red ink "Left. Return to sender" & with "Army Post Office 058" cds 5 MY 42 (used by Base Army PO, Port Moresby). Resealed by censor strip, tied by censor h/s "216". Roughly opened & "repaired". Rabaul was occupied by Japanese troops 23 Jan 1942 & Australia Civil administration ceased 14 Feb.

New Guinea 1942 WWII air cover (worn edges) ex Melbourne, pmk 31 Aug (Australia 2½d, 1½d stamps), to driver at "H.Q.L. of C. (Line of Command), New Guinea". Endorsements x 5 incl "Unable to trace. Return to sender". With censor resealing strip. On back Dead Letter Office, Melbourne RTS label stuck over "A.I.F. FIELD P.O. No. 12" cds 9 SE 42 (used at No. 7 Base Army P.O., Port Moresby).

New Guinea 1942 WWII stampless OAS air cover RAAF HQ in Port Moresby, with m/s "No stamps available". Canc very-fine "FIELD POST OFFICE 068" cds 15 SE 42 & with fine boxed AMF censor No. 3031 h/s (violet), cds used at Milne Bay, Aug-Dec 1942. Part of flap missing, otherwise good cond.

New Guinea 1945 WWII censored OAS covers (franked Australian stamps) x 6 to Australia, all ex military POs in Aitape area. All diff PO numbers incl No. 21, 23, 24, O42, 215 & 216. No. 23 is stampless, marked "F.L.M./N.S.A." (no stamps available). Good-fine A.I.F or A.M.F censor h/s (violet) x 2 with printed YMCA, ACF, Salvation Army logos. Good-(mostly) fine cond. Nice lot.

Also on front, light regn h/s with m/s "FPO 099" & fine boxed A.M.F. censor No. 4081 h/s (violet). B/s partly unclear "No. 7 AUSTRALIA BASE P.O./a" cds 6 FE 45. FPO 099 was at Lae Dec 1944-Dec 1945 & the Base P.O. at Port Moresby. Fine cond.

Cds used at Torohika airfield, Bougainville, Sept 1944-May 1946. Very good cond.
