1930 (May-June) Zeppelin Pan-America Flight, registered Behrens pc with varied franking incl. five airmails (Scott C5, two C7-8) tied by boxed Managua airmail ds (May 15), stamped to be carried by Zeppelin from Havana to F’hafen (via Lakehurst and Seville), with May 18 Havana registration cds on reverse, Braunschweig receiver of 1.6.30 (before arrival of the Zeppelin in F’hafen, thus NOT FLOWN except by airmail), very fine (Sieger 64 variety) Note: First Day usage of Scott C7-8; the card was supposed to be flown by Zeppelin from Le Havre on May 29, but local weather prevented the pickup of mail by the Zeppelin. 1932 (Oct.) Zeppelin 8th South America Flight, MIXED FRANKING reg’d cover with Brazil. Nicaragua FDC for $0.35 Surcharge plus 22c total in other stamps all tied by 12 July 1932 registration cds of Managua, flown by Pan Am to Rio (28 July bs). Franked at Sao Paulo on Oct. 12 (in the revolutionary zone) by total of 5’600r (11 stamps) then flown to F’hafen (19.10.32 pictorial cds), final bs of Leipzig (Oct. 20), a spectacular and rare cover, not listed by Sieger or Michel, very fine (Sieger 190 A var.)
