Cat No:1890O
1890-O PCI-graded MS65 blast white. It is doubtful that this coin would cross-over to an equivalent grade at PCGS or NGC. The probable grade is MS64 and as nice as it is, it should get CAC approval at that level. Worth inspection. (Image)

1890-S Paramount red insert "MS65". (Actual grade probably MS63.) From the famed "Redfield Hoard" marketed by Paramount in the late 1970s. Redfield, a wealthy investor from Nevada, accumulated over 500,000 silver dollars before his death in 1974. Paramount later sold the coins in specially-marked plastic cases - black inserts for the "MS60" coins, and red inserts for the "MS65" coins. While far from "rare", so many have been removed from the original holders over the last 40+ years that relatively few remain today. Lot Bonus: 1882-O MS63 in the Paramount holder but not pedigreed to the Redfield Hoard. (In fact, while an exact accounting of the Redfield Hoard was never released, we know that it contained NO dollars from the New Orleans mint.)
1896-O AU perhaps good enough to reach AU+ w/ nice whitish color for a date notoriously difficult to find in higher grade.
