(3) 1881-S all PCGS MS64. This lot typifies how grading can be inconsistent even among the so-called "professional" graders. In this cataloger's opinion, one coin in this lot is two grades better than the other two. Inspect and see if you agree. (Image)

1884-S NGC AU Details Cleaned. Great detail and mildly proof-like fields. Minor hairlines are evident but acceptable for a scarce date that is virtually prohibitive in mint state. (Image)
1894 NGC XF Detail Cleaned. The coin is a medium-grey color and there is no evidence of cleaning in this cataloger's opinion. It is a complete mystery why this coin did not straight-grade. The 1894 Morgan Dollar is a scarce coin that gets consistently overlooked by the 1893-S which runs about 8x the price. But the mintage of the 1894 is only 110,000 which is a mere 10,000 more than the 1893-S. It could be argued that they are about equal in overall scarcity. (Image)
