GREAT BRITAIN: 1941 Atlantic Charter Medal silver (76mm 226g) by Turner & Simpson Birmingham, George VI and Elizabeth conjoined busts, rev. Roosevelt and Churchill facing busts, USA and UK flags between '1941' above 'TO/COMMEMORATE THE ATLANTIC CHARTER', edge impressed 'T&S'[hallmark]', light obverse discolouration aUnc. With 1965 letter from Turner & Simpson which in part reads "we would advise you that 3-4 only silver medals were produced from the Atlantic Charter die as owing to the Restriction of Trade order then in force no medals were offered for general sale..". Another letter from the Administrator to the Marquess of Bath dated 1974 reads "..The one we have came from Mrs Roosevelt...this is most likely the one presented to President Roosevelt, probably while he was in London.." The Atlantic Charter was a joint declaration following a meeting between President Franklin D Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill on the 14 August 1941 in Newfoundland providing a framework of British and US war aims.
