1840 1d Mulready Lettersheet (Stereo removed). Fine used example sent from Coleshill to London uprated with a four margin 1d black Pl.5, cancelled contrary to regulation on stamp only by a red MC. Coleshill and London datestamps on reverse for AU.5+6.1840 respectively. Stamp lifted for inspection and replaced and central filing fold well clear of adhesive, nevertheless a very presentable uprated Mulready accompanied by a 1996 BPA Certificate. Spec. ME1. Mulready Caricatures & Pictorial Envelopes. Small group containing Fores’s No.1 ‘Courting’ and No.3 ‘Dancing’ envelopes, both hand coloured, although with some foxing and toning, Spooner No.5 ‘The Posts’ and No.13 ‘Military’ again both hand coloured and in fine condition. Also a used example of Hume’s ’50 Miles around Edinburgh and Leith’ envelope No.3. state D, addressed to Dunse but has unfortunately lost the original stamp, somewhat fragile and quite heavily stained at left, nevertheless very rare despite the faults (5 items).
