1915 CANADIAN OVERSEAS EXPEDITIONARY FORCE, late use of the FPO crown h/s on cover posted at the Aldershot Canadian FPO on FEB3-1915 (the cancels were recalled in March-1915), addressed to Dr. Andrew MacPhail who enlisted in WWI at the age of 50, about the same time as this letter, he served at the front with a field ambulance corps for 20 months then was assigned to the Sixth Field Ambulance where he “served with distinction” at a number of battles including Vimy Ridge, he was knighted Sir Andrew MacPhail in 1918, a scarce cancel and a significantly historic addressee, VF est ($100+ US) (Image)
