1843 folded letter from Lombardy-Venetia to London, datelined in Venice on November 19 and struck with "Venezia/Franca" oval and two-line datestamp, both in red, showing French entry datestamp denoting the transit through Austria, redirected inland to Cavendish on arrival, with previous application of 1841 1d red brown, upper left corner defective, tied by Maltese Cross, and packet letter rate erased with ink, London datestamps on reverse, minor acid ink erosions, otherwise very attractive, one of the earliest Italian mails bearing an adhesive, used seven years before the first Italian-States adhesive was issued; 2008 Sorani certificate.
