1933: Short set of five triangle Airmail stamps overprinted "DARIUS GIRENAS/NEW YORK-1933-KAUNAS" in black, sold in the U.S.A. to support the Transatlantic flights of Stephen Darius, Stanley Girenas and Felix Vaitkus, original stamps denom. 20c., 60c. and 1l. from pos. 1 of the block of four with split spelling "G R N S/N W O K" (other letters in GIRENAS/NEW YORK with artificial breaks), and 40c. plus 2l. from pos. 3 with split spelling "A I S/A N S", all mint lightly hinged, the 60c. with a little hole and the 2l. with a central thin on back otherwise fine.
