Liberia, White Plains, Aug 22nd, 1857. Dateline on 2-page letter from American black emigrant David Kelly to the Colonization Rooms in Philadelphia, Pa., entered the mails with blue "Baltimore, Md., Oct 5" cds with matching "Ship" and "5" rate handstamps, letter mentions sending letter on the (Mary) Caroline Stephens bound for Baltimore and the building of a lumber mill; file folds, otherwise Very Fine, a very scarce usage from White Plains. Estimate  $300 - 400. David Kelly went to Liberia in 1853 and started a farm which thrived well into 1861. $0 (Image)
