POSTAL HISTORY: 1938 (Nov 3) airmail to NSW with Riga cds, German 'MARIENBURG-EYDTKUHNEN/ BAHNPOST' oval TPO transit & Sydney arrival backstamp, a few blemishes. Per Imperial Airways/QANTAS flying boat service SE44 delayed at Rangoon when Canopus collided with an oil barge on 10.11.1938. Sanford #381110 states "No covers are known in collectors' hands".

POSTAL HISTORY: 1938 (Dec 14) 'Vecriga' real photo PPC airmail to Australia with Anniversary 35s & Arms 1L tied by Riga cds, via Germany per TPO to join the Imperial Airways/QANTAS flying boat service, minor staining. The rate was 20s foreign postcard plus 1L15s airmail surcharge. A scarce pre-war airmail postcard usage.

POSTAL HISTORY: 1940 (Jan 25) cover airmail to Australia with Arms 50s x3 tied 'RIGA/GAISA-PASTS' cds, censored only on arrival with Melbourne label & boxed cachet in violet, a few blemishes. No transits but presumably by air via Sweden to avoid German censorship. This is the only airmail cover from Latvia known to us that was censored only in Australia.
