#18, 1862-64 ½r Green, used as postage due on February 17, 1866 cover from London to Puerto Rico, paying the double rate with involvement of British packet, not exceeding 1 ounce, with Great Britain 1865 1s in pair, tied by numeral "12" type, with Lombard Street c.d.s. at left, "l" due marking on arrival struck in center, very fine, an extremely rare Great Britain-Puerto Rico combination franking -only an additional example was gathered in the extensive and renowned Gaspar Roca collection, although this represented a different usage with the Puerto Rican franking being used to pay the inland fee before the letter had entered a British P.O. in Puerto Rico-; ex-Borromeo d'Adda. #51, 1871 25c Ultramarine, used as postage due July 31, 1871 cover from Paris to San Juan, tied by negative "parrilla" handstamp with "1" due marking adjacent, franked on dispatch with France Spink-Maury #31, 37, 1867-70 40c pair and 20c, tied by "l" dotted star cancel with dispatch c.d.s. in center, red framed "P.P." and "London/Paid" transit c.d.s. alongside, some cover edge faults, of no importance for this, one of the very few France-Puerto Rico combination frankings recorded -1864 and 1871 issues are known applied as postage dues on genuine correspondence coming from abroad only-, signed Brun and Calves; ex-Schatzkès and Borromeo d'Adda. #67, 1882-865c Blue gray in pair, on November 15, 1886 commercial envelope from Ponce to Paris, tied by dispatch c.d.s. in blue, showing neat French "Ponce/Paq. Fr. F No3" octagonal datestamp, this being a type not seen by Raymond Salles, but supposed by him to exist (salles 1.606 supposé), being registered in his catalogue but not illustrated, stamps slightly affected by wrinkles and punch holes, of no significance for this extremely rare and most desirable marking of the French maritime mail, which exhibits a wonderful strike; ex-Borromeo d'Adda.
