Feuchtwanger Cent (1837) VG. Lewis Feuchtwanger produced a metal that was nickel, copper, & zinc. He lobbied Congress to use the metal to make small-sized one-cent pieces, but the metal was never adopted. However, his 1¢ and 3¢ trial pieces circulated widely in the subsequent period 1837 to 1845.
