King Edward VII: The following five lots are all from the Somerset House tinted gum trial. S.G. notes “The white gum of the paper used by Somerset House presented a problem is that it was sometimes difficult to see which side of the paper to print on. In August 1912 the 2/6 dull purple…(was) printed on paper with a greenish tinted gum as a trial. The trials were successful and from July 1913 all Somerset House printings were on paper with a bluish tinted gum”.
