India-China-GB 1941 WWII censored registered air cover ex India to GB, routed "over the hump" (ie: the Himalayas) via Chungking in southern China (temporary routing due to war-time disruption of the normal route). M/s endorsement "India-Chungking-England". From a British officer at "GHQ, M.G.O Branch, Patiala House, New Delhi" to another ("Major E, Flight", possibly a security pseudonym?) On back, 5 diff India GVI stamps totalling 3 rupees 10 annas 6 pies, canc 5 good-fine strikes of "CAMP P.O. L-74" cds 20 NOV 41 (with camp h/s on regn label). Triangular censor "A-11" tying resealing strip. GB receipt b/s 27 JA 42 (over 2 months transit!) This cover probably travelled from Chungking to Hong Kong, then via the USA to GB. Hong Kong fell under Japanese occupation in late Dec 1941, not long after this cover would have passed through. A rare WWII item. Fine condition.
