India 1854, 4a blue and pale red, two singles, Used from Burma. Frame and heads die I, in combination with 1855, 1a red, die III on 1855 folded letter sheet to Norfolk, England, all tied by dotted lozenge cancels, red "India Paid" boxed handstamp, red entry cds and manuscript "via Southampton" endorsement, reverse with red "Shoaygyen, 13 Dec, 1855" origin and green "Norfolk, Fe 21, 1856" receiving cds's; 4a stamps with corners professionally added (cut to shape) with portions of cancels drawn over, otherwise Very Fine, still a very rare combination usage, ex Robson Lowe. Tied by blue straight line company security handstamp and B1 octagon handstamps on folded letter to New York, red "Calcutta, India, Paid, Sp 27, 72" origin backstamp, front with London and New York cds's and scarce red "1/1d" handstamp credit to G.B.; light crease through 8a, Very Fine, Very Fine. Scott No. 23+28  Estimate $150 - 200. Franking pays the correct 10 annas (30 cents U.S.) per half ounce letter rate via Brindisi from 4-May-72 (Overseas Letter Postage From India 1854-1876, Martin & Blair) through at least Mar-1874. $0 (Image)
