Used from India to the United States: 1865-67 8a, 1a and ½a tied by CALCUTTA AU 22 61 c.d.s. strikes on blue folded letter sheet, bearing red boxed INDIA PAID to Boston via Southhampton, The P & O Line packets carried the letter on the SS Bangle from Calcutta to Suez transferring to the S.S. Ceylon from Alexandria to Southhampton. From London, LONDON transit, red 16 manuscript the letter was sent to Londonderry where it was placed on the Allan Line ship the s.s. North America where it arrived in Quebec and then traveled by rail from Portland, large PORTLAND ME AM PKT OCT 18 1861 c.d.s. to Boston. Exhibition page accompanies. Ex A. White.(SG 25,22,20 )
