India, 1932 Attempted Round the World Flight by German Seaplane "Atlantis". Flight cover franked with 1a + 3p definitives tied by "Ragoon G.P.O., 29 Apr, 32" cds with Calcutta backstamp, flight etiquette tied by purple "Atlantis, Junkers, D-1925, Ichapur, 14 April, 1932" cachet date stamp and additional expedition cachet at left, reverse signed Stephen H. Smith (Honorary Secretary, Indian Airmail Society), includes additional card signed by Capt Hans Bertram with photo and expedition cachet handstamp, Very Fine. AAMC No. 1162 $650. Estimate  $400 - 600. Capt. Hans Bertam and crew set out from Kiel, Germany on February 27th in their seaplane "Atlantis" on a round the world expedition. They reached India safely but where forced down in the Indian Ocean. Plane and crew were rescued and the flight was discontinued. $0 (Image)
