INTERIM POSTAL HISTORY: Afula to Zikron Jakov, phenomenal collection of some 400 covers in 6 thick deluxe stockbooks, in order by town of cancel, frankings include Interim issues (most, both Tel Aviv and Haifa hs) and Mandate issues (sometimes mixed), with a high percentage registered and a very large percentage of the 80 diff. dateless postmarks listed by Bale here present, on commercial mail as well as on philatelic covers. This collection was purchased item by item as available at auction or retail over a 40-year period, with minor duplication as well as spectacular philatelic frankings throughout. TEL AVIV, three-volume collection of well over 350 covers and cards franked by interim issues and often mixed with Mandate stamps or Doar Ivri, good variety of cancels and usages including many registered, few inbound, some with other locals (Nahariya, Jerusalem), frankings include wide melange of different issues incl. complete sets (e.g. Parachutists), Kofer Hayishuv (several incl. reg’d and one with taxi service label). HAIFA, two volumes with about 215 covers (plus pieces, etc.), franked mostly by Interim stamps (both Haifa and Tel Aviv types) and including many registered and 4 “Patco” fantasy mixed frankings. Some of the others include mixed frankings with Mandate or Doar Ivri issues; a rich resource in generally very fine condition with commercial mail to be gleaned (Est. € 2’000/3’000) (Image)

1948 INTERIM Issues handstamped at Haifa or Tel Aviv on JNF/KKR labels, thick stockbook showing a great range, also including a sheaf of exhibit pages, the whole is substantially complete per Bale incl. se-tenant strips as well as panes and a few sheets, also range of Tiberias Emergency Post ovpts. and surcharges, together with a stockbook of further duplicates mixed with unoverprinted JNF issues (useful for reference). The total Bale catalogue value is massive, given the prices for some of the strips and panes, and the whole is a solid foundation for completion or exhibit with the same issues on covers.
