1915 cover from UK to Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, recovered from the S.S. Hesperian which was torpedoed, while en-route from Liverpool to Canada by a German submarine U20 about 85 miles S.W of Fastnet on Sept 4th 1915, an attempt was made to tow the ship to Cobh but she sank on Sept 5th, a small portion of the mail survived, this rather fragile 'YMCA' illustrated cover bears the s/line cachet 'RECOVERED FROM S.S HESPERIAN' reverse bears Sydney Mines arrival mark for 16th Oct.
