POSTAL HISTORY: 1941 (Dec 5) Loxley & Co (China) Ltd long envelope to USA with [Red Cross]/British War Organisation Fund/Hong Kong Soldier & Warship patriotic label affixed at upper-left and KGVI 15c red pair tied by 'VICTORIA' cds, censored firstly with 'NOT OPENED/BY/CENSOR' boxed cachet in violet but subsequently opened & resealed with 'OPENED BY CENSOR' red/white label affixed at left (tying the patriotic label), then 'NO SERVICE' in violet & 'RETOUR' in black boxed handstamps on face, slightly trimmed at upper-left just affecting the patriotic label & a few minor blemishes. The Japanese launched an all-out offensive against Hong Kong on 8.12.1941 (later in the day after the Pearl Harbour attack). The last mail to leave Hong Kong before all services were suspended was airmail via CNAC on the afternoon of 5.12.1941, which might have included this item had it not been paid for surface mail only.
