Allover illustrated four-panel scene advertising design on reverse of cover, bearing 1894, 5¢ rose lake tied by "Honolulu, H.I., Aug 1, 1898" duplex on cover to Rome, Italy, upon arrival readdressed in attractive red ink to Grand Hotel Brufani in Perugia, reverse with purple "Collection 9:25 A.M." violet straight line handstamp (Davey 752) on reverse along with Rome cds; small bit of paper loss on back, Very Fine and rare advertising usage to Rome. Blue oval handstamp at the right of cover addressed to Kahakuloa, Maui, franked with 1875, 2¢ brown (35) canceled by segmented target, matching "Honolulu, H.I., Oct 3" cds, 1882 pencil docketing at right; cover a bit reduced at right, Very Fine, this rare marking was in use only during six month survey with less than 10 employees.

Oahu College was started as a school in 1841, and the name was changed to Punahou School in 1934. Frank Alvan Hosmer (1853-1911) was President of Oahu College from 1890 to 1900.
