Hawaii, "Advertised, Honolulu, H.I., Sep 1899" (Mh Unrecorded, 1rrrr), clear strike of 46mm x 26mm oval datestamp in red, on 1894, 1¢ red postal card cancelled by "Honolulu, H.I., Aug 2, 1899" duplex to local address, advertised to no avail and light strike of "Pas Reclamé./Unclaimed" handstamp in red (M-H 767) along with bold strike of rare "Dead Letter Office, Honolulu, H.I. Jan 19, 1900" oval in red (MH unrecorded, 1RR), additional red "Return to Writer" (M-H 755) handstamp applied; minor edge wear and light corner creasing, a Very Fine and exceptionally rare Dead Letter Office usage, ex-Golden. Scott No. UX8  Estimate $750 - 1,000. Gregory records only one other strike (December 1899) of this Honolulu advertised oval. It was unlisted by Meyer-Harris and the example offered here is only the fourth strike we have recorded.
