Hawaii, 1861, 5¢ Blue, Thin Bluish Paper, margins large to clear at top right, rich color and strong blued paper, tied by red square grid cancel on 1865 cover to Montclair, N.J., with matching bold red "Honolulu, U.S. Postage Paid, Mar 4" cds, in combination with U.S. 1863, 5¢ brown canceled by grid handstamp, with matching "San Francisco, Cal., Apr 3, 1865" cds alongside, some extraneous black ink cancelling Hawaiian stamp, Very Fine and choice, a wonderful and rare combination usage, with Hawaiian 5¢ King Kamehameha tied by the square grid cancel in red ink rather than in the usual black ink, ex Ishikawa; with 1981 and 2011 P.F. certificates. Scott No. 9+U.S. 76  Estimate $5,000 - 7,500. This cover was carried aboard the British ship "Bacchante", departing Honolulu on March 5th, 1865 and arriving in San Francisco on April 1st. $0 (Image)
