Hiscock's New Victorian Counties Atlas" published by George Robertson (1874), bound in quarter-leather with gilt highlights & minor wear to the spine (295x437mm), with large-scale hand-coloured maps of the 21 Counties & 4 Districts plus a huge fold-out map of Victoria (the last affected by tonespotting that is present to a mostly minor degree elsewhere). The atlas also includes detail of post towns, rivers, mountains & other major topographical features. Beautifully produced and containing a wealth of useful detail for the researcher. Sold at our auction of 22.4.2006 for $1265. [While we could never bring ourselves to do it, the individual maps would make a stunning assemblage if removed and framed] (Image1)
