1867: mourning cover correctly franked at 6d per 1/2 oz addressed to Princess Henriette von Schlewig-Holstein in Prussia. At the back superb Royal coat of arms. Stamp tied by Scottish barreecd 91 numeral of Cupar Angus, backstamped at Coupar Angus OC 16 67. The sender is most probably Pricne Christian of Schleswig-Hollstein, who was married to Helena Augusta Victoria, the fifth child of Queen Victory. at the time this letter was written the Royals gathered at Balmoral Castel for the inauguration of the Prince Albert memoral on 15 October. Coupar Angus is the closest village to Balmoral and known to have treated Royal correspondence. Despite light cover faults, this is a wonderful item associated with the inauguration of the prince Albert memorial in Balmoral Castle. (Image)
