Greece, 1861-62, 2l dark brown (deep bistre brown) on straw, Coarse Printing. Indistinct 1890 town cancel, full even margins all around, bold true color, Very Fine, a great Large Hermes Head rarity as this is the only known used example of the Athens Provisional 2l dark brown on straw; with 1977 R.P.S. certificate. SG No. 9a. Karamitsos No. 10Ia. Vlastos No. 8Y. Scott No. 9a  Estimate $3,000 - 4,000. This stamp is accompanied by six letters between 1969 and 1985 from the Royal Philatelic Society, the British Philatelic Society, Sherman E. Rogers and Pandelis J. Drossos, with many attesting to the genuineness, although a very late usage, of this stamp. It was also noted by the BPA & RPS that no other used example had been reported. $0 (Image)
