1868 Folded cover from London to Aleppo, Syria via Calais and Marseilles franked by horizontal pair of 1868 4d. vermilion from the rare plate 10, tied London '5 DE 68' duplex, with "PD" and boxed "L2" both in red, Calais transit dater and "POSTE FRANCAISE/D'ALEP" h/s in blue alongside, and with Smyrne transit backstamp. The pair with wing margin at right showing corner perf missing on the left, and letter with holes on face making the addressee's name unknown, otherwise fine. A scarce pair from the rare plate 10 used on cover to Syria.
