1905, Maji Maji Rebellion, field postcard with the RARE RED CROSS EXPEDITION CACHET, strike 29.3.1905 h, see Putzel p149, 8000pts, WRITTEN ON BOARD REICHS-POSTDAMPFER HERZOG WITH GERMAN EAST-AFR. LINE CODE H D/STP, ONLY 5 SPECIMENS RECORDED - VALUE 8000 PTS - (STEPHAN WELZ & CO), Putzel p. 165: the German East Africa Line started its round trips about mid-1901, alternating in westerly and southerly directions, on the journey to and from home, alternating LUDERITZBUCHT and SWAKOPMUND were called on for mail and passenger service, from then on postmarks were also seen on postage stamps of South West Afrika, namely 3 different forms, originally they had the inscription OSTAFRIKANISCHE HAUPTLINIE but from 1902 simply OSTAFRIKA LINIE, however the former inscription was maintained with those mail steamers which already carried this date stamp, received strike 10.04.1905, picture postcard of: LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA, Spanish city and capital of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands on the Atlantic Ocean, 25.
