1904-05 Australian Naval Station postcard correspondence to & from John Johnston Royal Navy engine room artificer (engine-smith) on board HMS Euryalus, Pegasus or Wallaroo, a number addressed to one ship and forwarded to another, plus Swain & Co card of Euryalus at Sydney, FT Series card of her at Lyttleton (NZ) & real photo cards of Pegasus x2, condition generally fine to very fine. HMS Euryalus was flagship of the Australia Station 1904-05, and also served as Rear Admiral Rosslyn Wemyss' flagship for the Gallipoli landings in 1915. HMS Pegasus & Wallaroo were Pelorus-class protected cruisers; Wallaroo suffered a boiler explosion near Montague Island in 1904 that killed four sailors, and served as a guard ship in England during WWI; Pelorus was sunk by the German light cruiser Königsberg in Zanzibar Harbour in 1914.  (30)
