1903 De La Rue frame and vignette essays for an unissued £5 value, using a design which was formally submitted to the Colony in 1903 as a composite photographic essay in deep purple with vignette in green. These examples derive from an internal DLR typewritten sample sheet (c.1910) promoting the benefits of the "Printex" process for the rapid production of plates for surface-printing via photo-etched dies. A unique pair of essays in both form and colour combination, with all other known examples pasted together into composite stamps. Splendid! (Image)
