1935 (14 Nov) shuttle flight cover originating in Stuttgart, addressed to Capt. Max Pruss, on board the Graf Zeppelin, with 1985 Sieger certificate. A fine example of the shuttle service (mail flights between Germany (Friedrichshafen on Bodensee near Berlin) and Brazil (Pernambuco, also known as Recife, and then Rio de Janeiro) began in 1930. European and other mail was carried under contract between the two countries. Between May 8, 1935 and December 9, 1935 it undertook a total of 33 trans-Atlantic flights. Two were between Pernambuco and Seville, Spain. Three other mail only flights occurred between Pernambuco and Bathurst in Gambia. These were known as pendulum flights as the Graf Zeppelin either dropped or hauled up mail in Bathurst without actually landing) (Cat No. Si.330A) (Image)
