France, 1870, Siege of Paris, 10c bister on yellowish, tête-bêche, a visually striking mint block of nine with center stamp the inverted cliche, wonderfully fresh color and paper, strong intact perforations all around, full clean original gum, the top and bottom stamps lightly hinged, the center three stamps including the tete-beche pair are never hinged, Very Fine, ex-"Lafayette", Gross; signed Bernard and Pascal Behr, J.F. Brun and Goebel, as well as being accompanied by their 2003 certificates. Maury Nos. 36 tb. Scott Nos. 54a  Estimate $35,000 - 40,000. A REMARKABLE TÊTE-BÊCHE MULTIPLE FROM THE SIEGE OF PARIS ISSUE WITH CONSIDERABLE EYE-APPEAL. Most inverted cliches are found in tete-beche pairs, to find one in this eye-appealing format at the center of a block of nine is a rare occurrence indeed.
