5 of North Adelaide (1): '5' (rated C, but only three recorded on cover) light but fine & obvious strike tying Perkins Bacon Rouletted 6d violet-blue to cover to England, very fine large-part Mordan-type 'NORTH ADELAIDE/AP25/1860/=S[OUTH AUSTRA]LIA=' (rated RR; LRD), GPO backstamp in blue & London arrival cds of JU16/60 in red on the face, a couple of light bends. PO 3.1.1850; RO 1860; closed 1.1.1861. [The numeral is rated 'C' but that is for usage at Wallaroo, to which it was transferred in 1860. We expect that 'ties' to North Adelaide are very elusive]
12 of Campbelltown: '12' (rated R, but the only recorded usage on cover) bold strike on De La Rue 2d orange & large-part unframed 21mm '[CA]MPBELLTON/AP7/76/S.A' (RR) on outer to the Commissioner of Public Works. PO 1.1.1855.
14 of Unley: Almost very fine '14' (rated RR; only two recorded on cover) tying Perkins Bacon Rouletted 6d dull blue to mourning cover to England, 21mm 'UNLEY/SP12/70/S.A' cds (R; ERD), GPO transit & London arrival backstamp of NO7/70. Very attractive. Unley (2) PO -.-.1853.
16 of Edwardstown: '16' (rated RR) superb strike on De La Rue 2d orange x2 on double-rated cover to "MU Hall" [Manchester Unity Hall], Adelaide with largely very fine unframed 21mm 'EDWARD'S-TOWN/JY22/76/S.A' cds (two words; RRR) & GPO arrival backstamp of the same day. Only five strikes of '16' are recorded on cover, one of which is implied because the cancelled stamp was lost in the 'Colombo' wreck: see Lot 2079. PO 3.1.1850; renamed Clarence Gardens 19.6.1967.
17 of Sturt: '17' (rated RR, but the only recorded usage on cover) fine inverted strike on Perkins Bacon Rouletted 6d violet-blue & very fine unframed 21mm 'STURT/AU23/62/S.A' cds (RRR) on cover to Lincolnshire with part '[KI]RTON-LIND[SEY]/OC21/62' arrival backstamp, a bit soiled. PO 1.11.1849; replaced by Oaklands Park 8.2.1969.
18 of Brighton: '18' (rated C, but only four examples recorded on cover) fine strike tying rare solo franking of Perkins Bacon Perf 11½-12½ '3-PENCE' in Black on 4d ultramarine to cover to "HMS Blanche/Melbourne", very fine 21mm 'BRIGHTON/SP5/71/S.A' cds (RR), Adelaide & Melbourne transits & 'WILLIAMSTOWN/SE8/71/VICTORIA' arrival backstamp, repaired opening tears & the stamp a bit soiled. From 1.7.1870, the inter-colonial ship letter rate was reduced from 6d to 3d per ½oz. PO 25.10.1849.
20 of Glen Osmond: '20' (rated RR; only two recorded on cover) three fine to very fine strikes on Perkins Bacon London Printing 2d rose-carmine SG 2 strip of 3 (margins just touching at upper-left to large) & Mordan-type 'GLEN OSMOND/JY27/1855/=SOUTH AUSTRALIA=' cds (RRR) on cover to the Victorian Goldfields, 'SHIP LETTER/FREE/GPO VICTORIA' transit in red and oval 'CASTELMAINE/[crown]/AU8/1855/VICTORIA' arrival backstamp, overall soiling still a presentable First Issue cover. NSW raised its inter-colonial rate by all routes to 6d per ½oz on 1.1.1855; presumably this rate applied from South Australia also. PO 1.1.1850. [The other '20' cover is to the Cape of Good Hope]
22 of Port MacDonnell: fine '22' (rated R) on Perkins Bacon Rouletted 2d pale red with postmaster's manuscript "PO/Pt MacDonnell/16 6 62" at upper-left, Mordan-type 'MOUNT- GAMBIER/=SOUTH-AUSTRALIA=' backstamp (RR) of the same date & very fine GPO arrival of JU23/1862. '22' was first used at Little Para, closed 1858; then at Avenue Range (1) PO 1858, closed -.2.1860; then at Port MacDonnell PO 1860.
23 of Salisbury (2): fine '23' (rated C, but only two pre-1884 covers are recorded) on Perkins Bacon Rouletted 2d bright vermilion x2 & 6d deep ultramarine with fine 21mm 'SALISBURY/JY27/66/S.A' cds (UF4-1; rated RR) on mourning cover to Hampshire endorsed "via Brindisi", GPO transit and 'ANDOVER/SP15/[66]' arrival backstamp. From 14.7.1863, the rate was 10d per ½oz. PO circa 1854.
40 of Modbury (1): '40' (rated RRR) very fine virtually complete strike on Perkins Bacon Rouletted 2d pale red. Renamed from Old Shepherd's Inn 17.2.1859. [According to the Handbook, the numeral was first allocated to Hope Valley (1) PO 1849; replaced by Old Shepherd's Inn PO 1.1.1856. Examples have not been recorded for either allocation, despite which this example is illustrated under all three offices.
54 of Macclesfield: '54' (rated R) light but obvious strike tying Perkins Bacon Adelaide Printing 2d orange-red to piece with superb strike of the Mordan-type 'MACCLESFIELD/FE8/1858/ =SOUTH-AUSTRALIA=' cds (RRR) alongside. PO 1847. See also Lot 2426.
77 of Inman Valley: '77' (rated RRRR; the only recorded example on cover) very fine strike on Perkins Bacon Adelaide Printings 6d slate-blue SG 10 (margins clear to large, except at right where a little cut-into, with a fragment of the adjoining unit below) on mourning cover to "John Dampster/[sic]/Post Office/Portland Victoria" with faint to very fine strike of the Mordan-type 'INMAN VALLEY/NO8/1859/=STH AUSTRALIA=' cds (RRRR), GPO transit of NO9/1859 and oval 'PORTLAND/[crown]/NO.21/1859/VICTORIA' arrival backstamp. NSW raised its inter-colonial rate by all routes to 6d per ½oz on 1.1.1855; presumably this rate applied from South Australia also. One of the most outstanding cds/numeral 'tie' covers. PO circa 1.1.1855. [The addressee, John Dempster, had been a teacher at St Peter's Collegiate School in Adelaide. By 1857 he was running a Boarding School, Ivy House, in Portland]
84 of Le Fevre's Peninsula: '84' (rated RR; C&P RRR) largely superb strike on Perkins Bacon Adelaide Printings 2d pale red (small closed tear at the base). PO 12.3.1856; renamed Glanville 21.8.1896.

102 of Normanville: '102' (rated RRR) superb strike on Perkins Bacon London Printings 1d deep green SG 1 horizontal pair (margins close at top to good but a little cut-into at left; Cat £1000+) on small piece. A stunning item for a postmark collection. PO 1856.
118 of Findon: '118' (rated RRRR) largely very fine strike tying Perkins Bacon Rouletted 2d pale red SG 24a (damaged before being affixed) to small piece. PO 1859: '118' transferred from McGrath's Flat (1) PO PO 1858; closed 1859. The Handbook states "No illustration available" but this is the example shown under McGrath's Flat!, but the stamp was issued in 1860 so it couldn't have been used there. And '161 was allocated to McGrath's Flat (2) TO 20.1.1862; PO 17.6.1862; closed 31.3.1882.
122 of Kanyaka: '122' cancel (rated R; but the only recorded use on cover) largely very fine strike on cover to England "Via Marseilles" with Perkins Bacon Perf 11½-12½ 'TEN PENCE' in Black on 9d yellow-orange SG 79 tied by fine unframed 21mm 'KANYAKA/DE29/68/S.A' (R) fine strike on cover, GPO transit backstamp of DE30/68 & very fine London arrival cds of 22FE69 in red on the face, trivial blemishes. PO 1858; renamed Wilson 28.2.1881.
140 of Allandale North (1): '140' largely very fine almost complete strike on De La Rue Crown/SA Perf 10 2d. Rated RRR: not illustrated in the Handbook. Renamed from Allandale 1865; destroyed by fire 27.1.1887.
146 of Kangarilla: '146' (rated RRR) very fine large-part strike (vastly superior to the strike illustrated in the Handbook) on Perkins Bacon Rouletted 6d violet-blue. PO 1860.
153 of Stirling East (1): '153' (rated RRR) superb strike on Perkins Bacon Perf 10 1d deep green (a 'dwarf' stamp) & 6d deep Prussian blue plus De La Rue 2d orange on cover to England "Via Brindisi" with superb unframed 25mm 'STIRLING EAST/JY1("6")/1872/S . A' cds (RRR), London arrival cds of 2SP72 in red on the face, flap removed. PO 1861; closed 16.9.1907. 192 of Port Wakefield (4): '192' (rated RRR) very fine complete strike on Perkins Bacon Rouletted 2d vermilion. PO 22.12.1863. There were three earlier offices of this name. Usage could have been at (3) but it was open only from -.4.1862 until later that year.
206 of Rosenthal: '206' cancel (RRRR; LRD and the only recorded example on cover) largely very fine strike on 1d Postal Card to Adelaide with framed 22mm 'ROSENTHAL/JY15/79/S-A' (rated R) superb strike, GPO arrival backstamp of the same day. PO 1.11.1864; renamed Rosedale 1.7.1918 as part of the WWI anti-German programme. [The letter written in German signed "JA Wamke"]
