1971-74 Floral Coil Stamps 7c Sturt's Desert Pea marginal block of 4 ACSC 535b from the left of the sheet with huge sheet margin, two opposing impressions of an unusual-pattern machine cancellation with 'KING STREET/19NOV71/VIC 3000' datehead, full unmounted original gum, Cat $1200+. Superb. A very strange & wonderful item. The ACSC states "At least four blocks of 4 (some now divided into horizontal pairs) are known..." Since their discovery, there has been debate about the status of these coil oddities. Our belief is that an uncut sheet, or part of a sheet was used for cancellation trials, that seem to have been unsuccessful because we have no other record of this King Street marking.

(Interesting to note the Black Ommitted listed in the ACSC is from the right hand side of a sheet, perhaps it is from Sheet A Left Pane).

2000 Summer Olympics Gold Medallists 45c perforated essays 'MATT WELSH/Swimming 200m backstroke', 'HAYLEY LEWIS/Swimming 800m freestyle' and 'CAROLINE HILDRETH/Swimming 200m breasttroke' (error for 'breaststroke') ACSC 2348E(3) (4) & (5), unmounted. Unissued. These were trial printings to test the digital printing technology. They were produced as pairs of sheetlets of 10, of which only one pair of each came onto the market in London a few years ago. Thus only 20 examples of each stamp can exist, making them far scarcer than the 1935 Unissued Perf 14 1/- ANZAC, Cat $2750 (£1600). Welsh finished 3rd in his event; Hildreth failed to reach the final; and Lewis didn't even compete in the 2000 Games. The spelling error on the Hildreth stamp has apparently not been recorded elsewhere. A must-have for every Olympics collection. (3)
