2000 Summer Olympics Gold Medallists 45c 'MATT WELSH/Swimming: 200m backstroke' in the same format as the issued stamps ASCSC 2348E(3), marginal example from the top of the sheetlet, unmounted, grossly undercatalogued. Unissued. This and the next two lots were trial printings to test the digital printing technology. They were produced as pairs of sheetlets of 10, of which only one pair of each came onto the market in London a few years ago. Thus only 20 examples of each stamp can exist, making them far scarcer than the 1935 Unissued Perf 14 1/- ANZAC, Cat $2750 (£1600). We expect our estimate is very conservative. See also Lots 380 & 381. [At the Games, Matt Welsh finished third in the 200m backstroke]
