1860. stampless envelope written from Curacao dated '23rd April 1860' addressed to Belgium via Saint Thomas cancelled by Curacao date stamp in red, endorsed 'By British Steamer' and sent on the steamer "Essex" via St. Thomas with 'Port Paye' hand-struck '15' on reverse in red then forwarded on the steamer "Shannon" via Southampton and London 'My 12' with 'Angleterre Par Amb. Ouest' on reverse with Bruxelles arrival '13th Mai' cds and rated '9' in violet on face. The hand-struck '15' cent tax was applied to mail from Curacao to St. Thomas but is rarely seen.
