Confederacy, Nashville, Tenn., 1861, 5¢ violet brown, "transitional shade between carmine and violet brown" as per 2007 CSA cert., large margins to just in at top, minor gum stains, tied by partial strike of blue "Nashville, Ten./(Nov) 14, 1861" cds on commercial cover with black corner card of "Ewin Pendleton & Co, Wholesale Druggists", addressed to Mr. E. O. Hinton, Petersburgh, Va. with manuscript "Due 5" shows cover was underpaid for distance, backflap partially reinforced from the inside with archival tape for preservation, Very Fine, a lovely cover, Ex-Matz; with 2007 C.S.A. certificate. Scott No. 61X5  $4,250. Included is original enclosure dated Nov. 13, 1861 refers to letter delayed due to "burning of bridges in East Tenn". $0 (Image)
