Cavalry, original letter datelined "Hd. Qtrs. Army Potomac, Sept. 30th 1861" and states "The General Commanding directs that you report at once to Brig. Genl. J.E.B. Stuart at once your appointment as Lieut. Colonel of the 1st Virginia Cavalry having been madeā€¦", signed "Thos. G. Rhett, A. A.
