Confederacy, Immortal Confederate 600 - Fort Delaware (Delaware City, Del.). 1863-64 10¢ blue (four margins, minor toning) tied by "Richmond, Va./Aug. 5" cds on small inner cover to Waynesboro, Va. with "Lt. G.H. Keiser, Co. H, 5th Va. Vols." manuscript endorsement & at top left manuscript "Examined John Cassels" at point of exchange in Fort Monroe, Va., Very Fine, pictured in the Harrison book. Estimate $750 - 1,000. The letter was censored and marked "Examined John Cassels" (John Cassels, Captain and Provost Marshal of Fortress Monroe), then sent by flag-of-truce boat to Richmond, where the 10¢ adhesive was canceled.
