Confederacy, First Day of the 1862 10¢ Rate - Fincastle, Va./Jul. 1 (1862). Cds on cover to Connards Store, Va. franked with 1861 5¢ green + 1862 5¢ blue cancelled by grid cancels, 5¢ blue tied, endorsed at bottom left "Notice that boy Fontaine has been arrested", undoubtedly referring to a captured runaway slave, adhesive with mostly large margins, 5¢ blue with small tear, flap missing, Very Fine, a wonderful combination showing the new 10¢ rate.
