Confederacy, Chickasawhatchee, Ga./18 July (1861). Balloon type cds on cover with straight line "Paid" & "5" in circle rate to A.H. Stephens in Montgomery, Ala., cover forwarded with Montgomery cds & manuscript "For'd 10" to Richmond, bit of flap missing, included is second folded cover (1864) franked with 1863-64 10¢ blue (in at right) with manuscript cancel & tied by "Chickasawhatchee, Dec. 29" manuscript postmark, folded letter with fancy printed letterhead of "Woodruff & Co.'s Carriage Repository" with ornate shield advertising Coaches, Buggies, Hacks, Wagons, Harness, Whips, etc. letter with some interesting contents, "You can have the lower story of My Repository at Griffin for the Government. It is a very large room. The Confederate Govt.used it for a hospital & the rent was assessed at $125 per month.", the letter closes with, "What do you think of the prospect of Raids from Sherman in S.W. Ga.?", closed scissor cut at top of lettersheet, Very Fine, an interesting pair of covers, one used in 1861 & the other in 1864, apparently the handstamp postmark must have been lost some time before 1864.
