Palmer at Charleston S.C., forwarded with 5¢ to 32 Mile House at Georgetown S.C.; edge tear, no flap, Fine a very scarce and unusual use on a forwarded cover. Scott No. 16X1 $2,500. Major Joseph Stark Sims was a young lawyer from Grindal Shoals who also operated a textile mill on the Pacolet River. He was one of three representatives from Union County to sign South Carolina's Ordinance of Secession.
