Confederacy, 1863, 20¢ Green, Top Margin Single. Large margins to close, but clear at left, deep fresh color, tied by blue "Columbia, S.C./Sep. 20" cds on folded adversity cover to Charleston, S.C., the document used to make this large cover was a boldly printed copy of a South Carolina House of Representatives Bill that was introduced on the House floor on November 29, 1862. The bill's purpose was, "To abolish the Executive Council established by the Ordinance of the Convention, entitled 'An Ordinance for Strengthening the Executive Department during the exigencies of the present war.'", Extremely Fine and choice, a rare use of the 20¢ Green on an Adversity Usage (Pictured in Monroe Book, pg. 68). Scott No. 13  Estimate $1,000 - 1,500. The 20¢ green Archer & Daly stamp was primarily used for double weight letters. An estimated 2,350,000 were printed. Unused copies of this stamp are relatively common while genuinely used examples on or off cover are scarce. The earliest known use is June 1, 1863. $0 (Image)
