Owen, surgeon at Lynchburg, and in February, 1862, was made clerk of the military court of Longstreet's Corps. He served in this position, with a captain's pay and allowance, until nearly the end of the war. Late in 1864, when the demand for fighting men became pressing, he went back to the firing line as adjutant to his cousin, Lieutenant Colonel Richard L. Maury of Terry's Brigade, Pickett's Division, and after being in three or four battles he was made prisoner at Sailor's Creek April 6, 1865. When General Lee surrendered, Mr. Blackford was paroled near Burkeville, and walked home to Lynchburg. $0 (Image)
