A gorgeous example of this very distinctive shade, large even margins except at bottom left where corner is clipped well away form design, bright fresh color on white paper, tied by "Washington, Ga." dateless postmark on cover addressed to "Col. I.F. Gilmer C.S.A., Care Genl. R.E. Lee" in Richmond & forwarded to Gordonsville, Va., Extremely Fine; signed by B. Green as the "Brown Rose" shade. Scott No. 5  Estimate $750 - 1,000.
