Confederacy, 11-Star Flag. Red and blue patriotic design (Dietz F11-9) with "Bartow" imprint on small cover to Beaufort S.C., "Tudor Hall Va. Sep 19 1861" cds and manuscript "5" due rating, returned address "Private R.C. Johnson Beaufort District Troop Hampton Legion", with original enclosure datedlined "Camp Near Manassas Sep 17.61" and states "The 8th Ga. has lost its best field officer, Col. Bartow and Adjutant Branch being killed…", Very Fine, a remarkable Bartow patriotic cover with original letter mentioning his death at Manassas. Estimate  $2,000 - 3,000. The red notation "Bartow" at the bottom of the flag staff refers to Colonel Francis S. Bartow, a prominent Georgian killed at the First Battle of Manassas. $0 (Image)
