Jun 10 1861" cds with matching "Paid" and "10" rating handstamps, additional blue crayon "10", faults and no flap, original note datelined "Richmond, Va June 9 /61" accompanies, Fine, One of only three recorded examples of this ad. ex-Knapp. Estimate  $300 - 400. The accompanying letter from M.C. Murphy reads, "Arrived this morning 11 Oclock, have received orders to march to Phillippi via Staunton including a foot march of 75 miles". M.C. Murphy enlisted as a private June 1, 1861 into Company D of the 1st Georgia Volunteer Infantry and mustered out in Augusta March 18, 1862 because he was transferred to Company F of the CS Exchange Battalion Infantry. $0 (Image)
