Confederacy, "Plano Tex. Jun 24", manuscript postmark on circa 1864 wallpaper cover with blue and white design bearing two 1862, 5¢ blue singles, flaws, and with military address to Pinckney A. Bozarth at Natchitoches La., Stone's Regiment, Partisan Rangers, some cover wear, Very Fine and colorful. Scott No. 7 Estimate $1,000 - 1,500. Br June 1862, Federal forces controlled the Mississippi River north of Greenville, MS and south of New Orleans. The Texas coast was also blockaded. External mail from Texas addressed to destinations east of the Mississippi River was funneled overland through Louisiana for the remainder of the war.
