1932 Opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge 1932 (March 22) 5th Australian Philatelic Exhibition cover (front only) with Bridge 2d (both) & 3d tied by Exhibition cds in red, blue & black/white R label, autographed "FE De Groot". Francis ("Frank") De Groot was a prominent Sydney manufacturer and member of the ultra-right New Guard. He achieved notoriety at the Opening Ceremony by charging forward on his horse and slashing the ceremonial ribbon with his sword, before the Premier John ("Jack") Lang could 'do the honours'.
